DIY Christmas decorations

Hello guys! Hope you're having a good December month of Christmas.

I've been having a really lazy month, I've not even been keeping up with my Bullet Journal. I've only just put my Christmas decorations up this week, that's partly because I had been waiting for my sister to come over so we could all do it together like we had done last year.

So I am going to be making a post about what I have been wanting to all month which is... DIY Christmas decorations! There are so many different types of DIY on this theme, there are decorations made out of cardboard and paper, other made out of random objects and others which are carefully crafted out of loads of materials to make a proper decoration.

So because there are a lot of decorations I am going to tell you 5 of my favorites and if I have the motivation that I don't really have this month I'll make another post with some more decorations.

So to begin with I thought I would start with something simple, as long as you can get pine cones where you live, then that's most of what you would need.

You also need some string, glue (that is not a stick and try to avoid using super glue) and a few small colorful cotton balls.

Now all you need to do is stick the cotton balls onto the little parts of the pine cone and make sure the glue dries so that they don't fall off. The string can be a little difficult and frustrating to fit on but if the stick is still attached to the pine cone it will help to tie the string around the stick as well as glue it.

Finally all you have to do is wait until everything is properly dry and hang it on your Christmas tree (or wherever else you would like to hang it).

The next thing I am going to talk about are these beautiful candles. You may not be able to do this if you don't have the right tools or you're not very skilled with cutting wood. I am one of those people so I won't be able to make this but I do understand how it has been made and with what.

You will need a short and small log of wood, some carving tools, candle wax and candle wicks (this is the string part of the candle).

First of all you would need to carve a hole into the wood, you need to make sure it is wide enough so that the candle won't start burning it and everything will catch fire. Next, if you don't have a candle that will fit in the hole you carved, you will want to put a candle wick in and then melt some candle wax and pour it into the hole until it reaches the top, try not to over spill it.

Finally you just have to let the wax cool down so that it's hard and just enjoy your Christmas candles!

The next decorations are some that I have been wanting to do for a very long time but I still haven't found the right materials. One day I'll get to do it.

What you need is a clear Christmas ball that has a way to open up so that you can do different things on the inside so you can make your own decorations. You can paint the inside with different patterns to make them look christmasy.

But my favorite of all would be to put false snow inside and put a small Christmas tree inside, like in the image or even a little snowman made out of cotton balls. Because it reminds me of a small Christmas world inside a Christmas decoration ball and it just drives me crazy how much I love it.

There are so many things to do with these so I'll leave the rest up to your imaginations.

The next idea I have never thought about but I saw it while looking for images and ideas and I just thought it was so cute so I wanted to put it on this post.

So for this you would need some ribbon and a bunch of thread still on their rolls. Also, depending on how you want all of this to go together, you might need glue or a coat hanger or any other thing you may think of.

So in this image they used a pool noodle, I'm not sure how they stuck the thread rolls to the pool noodle and that's why I have come up with different ideas.

So I've seen people use coat hangers to make these sort of decorations, First of all you would need to bend the coat hanger into the shape of a circle and then you can use the thread to tie the rolls to the coat hanger.

You could also try glue but that is way to complicated so I'm not even going to try to explain, if you want to complicate yourself with glue, I won't judge you.

The last decoration that I am going to show you are these gorgeous snow flakes / stars made out of wall and carton.

It has quite a complicated way of doing it but once you get used to it, it gets much easier. I found a website which will show you how to do them step by step in case you want to have a go at making them, click here and it will take you to the website.

That's all for now guys, I hope you enjoyed this post and that you will try out a couple of the ideas, remember to be careful when making some of them because they can be dangerous.

If I don't post soon, I hope you all have a merry Christmas and happy new year!
