Robin Hood Film Review

Beware the spoilers!

A couple of weeks ago me and my Stepdad were sat in the living room and he put a film on, as you can guess from the title, it was Robin Hood.

This is a film from 2018 staring Taron Egerton that you can find on Netflix (and I guess other places) and it lasts 116 minutes (1 hour and 56 minutes). You can find more information here.

Beyond here do not keep reading if you do not want any spoilers.

I think the film was quite interesting and entertaining but at the same time I don't think it was the best it could have been. Robin Hood is something which is in the old times, that's why Robin has a bow and arrows and not a gun, but it seemed like a mixture of old and modern which I don't really like. I love old things (reason why I want to live in Edinburgh) and this was much more modern than it should have been. People were running around in clothes which looked like things people would wear now a days.

Little John (played by Jamie Foxx) was quite an interesting character, after losing his son he was able to team up with someone who he was originally trying to kill and teach him the skills he knew to help Robin become "The Hood".

I think Marion (played by Eve Hewson) was a little weird, she seemed to still love Robin even though she was able to marry another guy after such a short while of thinking Robin was dead.

Overall I think that the story was interesting and I love films where the assassin is very slick and well skilled, which Robin was after being taught by Little John. But, also, I didn't really like the main setting of the film and the fact that it was modernised.

My personal rating would be maybe a 3.5/5? Okay but not great.

Till my next post tomorrow at the same time!

Thank you for reading!
